New Fortum Circo® compounds to be presented at Plastic Recycling Show Europe in Rai, Amsterdam on 19-20 June

13 June 2024, 14:00 EEST

Fortum Circo® post-consumer recycled plastics, with a versatile, safe and high quality product family of basic PP, HDPE and LDPE grades, have been the choice of many end-product manufacturers already for years. At the PRSE exhibition, Fortum Recycling & Waste will present new compounds, that are suitable for more demanding, technical applications to complement the existing product series.

Innovative compounds for demanding product applications

Different plastic grades have different uses and Fortum's innovative compound development enables the use of post-consumer recycled plastics in more technically demanding products. The new compound series are PP-LGF, PP High Impact and PP High Flow, which complement the Fortum Circo® product series portfolio.

The PP-LGF compound is reinforced with long glass fibre to increase the strength and rigidity of the product, making the material at the same time a responsible alternative to similar glass fibre compounds. PP High Impact compounds, as the name indicates, have high impact resistance even at sub-zero temperatures. PP High Flow compounds are particularly suitable for thin-walled applications where good flow properties are required.

The new product series, which meet the needs of a growing number of customers, demonstrate Fortum's continuous development towards more responsible plastics. Recycled materials allow carbon to stay in the cycle and reduce the carbon footprint of the end products - in fact, the basic grades of Fortum Circo® recycled plastic have a carbon footprint up to 70% lower than virgin plastic. Furthermore, the Fortum Circo® PP-CF, a cellulose fibre reinforced compound, is carbon neutral at its best, when the biogenic net carbon, that is bound into the material, is taken into account.
