Fortum's position in the German operation and maintenance markets strengthened
Fortum Service has signed a long-term operation and maintenance contract with
German Trianel Power Kohlekraftwerk Lünen GmbH & Co. KG. The agreement covers
the new 750 MW coal-fired power plant in Lünen and is worth hundreds of million
euros. The work will be initiated in 2009.
The coal-fired power plant represents a new ultra-supercritical technology that
enables very high availability and low emissions. The technology developed in
Japan is to be applied in Europe for the first time. The power plant will be
commissioned in autumn 2012.
The contract now signed is the second of its kind with Trianel. At present,
Fortum Service is responsible for the operation and maintenance of an 800 MW
gas-fired CHP power plant in Hamm. Trianel Power Kraftwerk Hamm-Uentrop GmbH &
Co. KG is owned by 28 German, Austrian and Dutch regional energy companies.

With this contract, Fortum is responsible for the operation and maintenance of
already 2400 MW power plant capacity in Germany. The contract strengthens
Fortum's leading position as independent operation and maintenance service
supplier in fast growing German market.
