Fortum and the Port of Rauma have agreed on the site development for a green transition project. Under the collaboration agreement, Fortum and the Port of Rauma will apply for a zoning change to enable a hydrogen and/or hydrogen derivatives production plant investment at a site located in the Port. The site is about 14 hectares and is located in the Petäjäs area of the Port.

The actual investment in the plant will be made by the project investor.

”The Port of Rauma aims to diversify the flow of goods and contribute to the development of the regional economy. The Port’s excellent location and access to raw materials and labour make it an ideal location for new industrial projects. Marketing and talks with potential project implementers are already underway. In addition to the area being developed with Fortum, we are also advancing the further construction of the Järviluoto expansion area,” notes Port of Rauma CEO Janne Virta

”Our goal is to develop and market the area to potential plant investors and enable them to carry out the project smoothly. In line with its strategy, Fortum is driving for a decarbonisation based on clean energy,” says Vesa Maso, Director of Fortum’s Industrial Customer Electrification unit.
