How does ID Protection work?

Three easy steps.

Step 1: Monitoring and advice

Activate the service and online monitoring of your data can begin. The online service also provides instructions on how to protect yourself from identity theft and what to do if you suspect a crime. The telephone service is available to you both for crime prevention and when the situation is active.

Step 2: Get help if you become a victim

If you have been a victim of identity theft, we will take the necessary steps on your behalf to limit the consequences of the crime and prevent potential financial losses.

Step 3: Financial security with insurance

After a crime has occurred, the insurance included in Identity Protection compensates for financial losses up to 10,000 euros without a deductible and covers the costs of a legal assistant up to 25,000 euros without a deductible.

Fortum ID Protection is a service that protects against the misuse of personal data. The service is intended to prevent, detect and minimize the harm of identity theft and misuse of personal data. ID Protection includes monitoring of credit information, personal identification number and email addresses, 24/7 telephone support, personal and concrete assistance after a crime has occurred, and insurance.

  • ID Protection's online service and telephone support offer support for crime prevention 24/​7, as well as instructions for action after a crime has occurred.

  • If a crime has occurrs, we will take the necessary measures on your behalf at your request to limit the consequences of the fraud and prevent possible financial losses. Examples of measures:

    • setting a block on address changes

    • setting a credit ban on a credit reference agency

    • contesting and preventing unjustified payment demands

    • removing unjustified credit entries from the credit database

    • the service also includes support for your children over 15 years of age who live with you in whole or in part

  • You also have the option to authorize us to handle a specific case to remove unwanted material. The process will depend on your wishes, knowledge, complexity of the case and access to the internet.

    • We will contact the website owners and ask them to remove unwanted and offensive images and personal information about you.

    • We will ensure that the information is actually removed.

    • The support also applies to your children over 13 years old who live with you in whole or in part.

The price of the Fortum ID Protection service is €8.00/month.

You can receive your invoice as an e-invoice in your online bank. If you are our electricity customer, we will invoice the ID Protection service with your electricity bill and in line with it.

However, you do not need to have an electricity contract to use the Identity Protection service.

How to activate the service: Once the agreement has entered into force, you will receive a separate message asking you to first activate the online service. Once the activation has been successful, you will receive further information on how to log in to the online service and how to use it. If you are unsure about how to activate, please contact Fortum customer service or Fortum ID Protection's 24/7 telephone service. Never give your login details to another person.

After activation, you can enter the information you want to be monitored based on.

Check alerts: After activating online monitoring, your online service will start to accumulate events in which your personal data has been used. The event list will include your own online activities as well as suspicious events related to possible identity theft that you need to react to. The risk classification of the events helps you assess the level of risk. You will receive alerts via email.

Prevent damage: Once you have activated the online service, you will also find written instructions on how to protect yourself from identity theft. It is also worth checking in advance what to do if you suspect a crime. In that case, you need to act quickly. The telephone service is available to you both for crime prevention and when the situation is ongoing.
