You can pay your bills evenly throughout the year and gain flexibility in making payments. This is especially useful, for example, for electric heating users whose electricity consumption multiplies during the heating season.
You can take a break from payments.

How does Maksujousto work?
Three simple steps.
Step 1: Choose electricity contract
First, choose the electricity contract you want and add the Maksujousto service to your order. You can also add Maksujousto to an existing Fortum electricity contract.
Step 2: Get your first payment suggestion
You will receive your first payment suggestion by mail. Review it and pay either the suggested amount or another amount of your choice. You can also set up an e-invoice agreement in your online bank to receive future payment suggestions there.
Step 3: Make use of Maksujousto
You can choose to have your electricity bills paid according to the payment suggestion, for example via e-invoice with automatic payment. Or, you can pay less or more at a time within the available flexibility.

The Fortum Maksujousto service spreads your annual electricity bill into more even installments. In addition, it offers flexibility in payments. You’ll receive a monthly payment suggestion and can adjust the payments yourself choosing more freely than with a regular electricity bill when and how much you pay at a time. All your Fortum electricity contracts are linked to your Maksujousto account.
More even electricity bills throughout the year: Maksujousto spreads your estimated annual electricity costs into smoother monthly installments. You’ll receive a payment suggestion once a month, and by paying it, you get more consistent bills year-round.
Flexible payments with no interest: You have payment flexibility equal to two monthly installments at your disposal. You can decide when to use it, when to pay, and how much to pay at a time, or even take a break from payments, all without interest.
The Maksujousto service can be linked to all Fortum electricity contracts. So, first choose your electricity contract. When creating a new contract, select Maksujousto under the additional services section and continue with your order.
If you already have a Fortum electricity contract, log in to the Fortum app and order Maksujousto from there. You can also contact our customer service, and they will add the service to your contract.
The service fee for Maksujousto is €4.96/month, regardless of your electricity contract or electricity consumption. The service fee covers all costs and is charged together with your electricity bill.
The service includes a two-month payment flexibility, which is interest-free. You decide when to use it, when to pay, and how much you pay at a time. You can also take a break from payments without interest.
Number of bills
Electricity bills are generated based on the customer's electricity usage. The lower the usage, the fewer the bills. You may receive 4, 6, or 12 bills per year. A payment suggestion, however, is sent every month regardless of your consumption.
Payment
When you sign up for the Maksujousto service, your first payment suggestion (account statement) will be sent to your billing address by regular mail. If you wish, you can use this to set up a new e-invoice agreement with your bank, after which we will send future payment suggestions directly to your online bank as e-invoices.
If you enable automatic payments in your online bank, the payment will be charged according to the suggested amount. You can also adjust the final payment amount within your available flexibility.
The service divides the following estimated 12-month costs into equal monthly payment suggestions:

The suggested amount is reviewed monthly. It may change if the electricity price or your consumption changes.
The payment suggestion is always based on your previously realized consumption and the forecasted billing for the following 12 months. The service automatically takes into account long-term changes in consumption and pricing.
The bill attached to the payment suggestion includes the previous month's billing and consumption details. The payment suggestion covers a different time period than the bill based on actual consumption.
With Maksujousto, you can spread your electricity payments evenly over the year and enjoy greater flexibility. For example, in electrically heated detached houses, consumption peaks during the winter months due to higher heating needs, resulting in higher electricity bills. Maksujousto allows you to distribute those higher costs more evenly across the year.
Most people have a fairly steady monthly income, so receiving a more even electricity bill 12 times a year can be more convenient.
The payment suggestion is influenced by the annual consumption forecast, the current electricity price level, and any newly activated services. In Maksujousto, the entire year’s estimated consumption is divided equally across each month. If the total yearly estimate increases, the individual monthly payment suggestions will also increase.
How much flexibility is available?
Maksujousto divides your estimated annual electricity costs evenly into monthly payments. You have a payment flexibility equal to two monthly installments. Within this two-month buffer, you can choose the timing that suits you best to make your payments conveniently, without needing to request due date changes.
Do I need to notify Fortum if I want to use the flexibility?
No, if you don’t pay the monthly amount by the due date, the service automatically interprets this as you using your flexibility. There's no need to inform Fortum separately.
Can I pay more than the suggested amount?
To keep your monthly payments even throughout the year, we recommend paying only the amount suggested in the payment plan. However, if you do pay more, we will distribute the excess evenly across the next 12 months’ payment suggestions.
What if I exceed the available flexibility?
If you go beyond the available two-month flexibility, we will contact you and provide guidance on how to proceed.
